Santa's Workshop ~ Diary of Ashlee the Elf - Day 38

                         Tree on the town common
                           Tree outside Santa's House

Hi everyone!

I had another busy day again. I woke up at 6:30am to go for an early skiing lesson. This is the first time I have been skiing in almost 10 days. Last week I couldn't go skiing because of the blizzard and this week we were busy getting ready for Thanksgiving. It felt great to finally be able to get back out on the slopes. I think I am doing pretty good as I only fell down twice today. My ski teacher, Galaxy, says I won't need to take lessons much longer.

After skiing I went to Santa's house for a big breakfast of blueberry pancakes (yum!).  After breakfast we loaded all the Christmas Decorations into the sleigh to take to the town hall for the town Christmas decorating party this afternoon.

After delivering the decorations, we went back to Santa's to get the sleigh and the reindeer ready. We polished the sleigh and brushed the reindeer's hair.  All the reindeer (except Rudolph) wore shiny new red collars. Since Rudulph is the lead reindeer he wore a shiny green and red collar.

At noontime we all climbed into the sleigh to go to the decorating party. We made a grand entrance into town. Everyone loved Santa and the reindeer....people were standing on the sidewalks and on the common cheering for us. We tossed candy to the children as we passed by. The high school band was even playing christmas carols.

What a wonderful afternoon we all had. We decorated all the trees on the common, the bandstand and all the shops and houses in the center of town. Santa took everyone for a sleigh ride and then let the children sit on his lap to have their pictures taken. Even the reindeer had fun having their pictures taken.  You should of seen Rudolph; he loves to be the center of attention. He had everyone dancing and singing; it was so funny.

Mrs. Claus and Santa's sister Rosie served warm cider, and hot chocolate to keep us warm. Mr. Barkley who owns the local bakery served free donuts.

We finished decorating around 5pm. When we turned the lights on the whole town looked like a magical wonderland. I do not think I have ever seen anything so pretty.

After we finished decorating we all went to the town hall for our Spaghetti supper. More people showed up to eat then we expected so we ran out of spaghetti. Luckily, Mrs. Reilly who owns the local grocery store donated more spaghetti so everyone had something to eat. After everyone finished eating it took us almost two hours to clean the hall. We finally got home at around 9pm.

Well I better say goodnight. The last few days have been so busy and tiring that I can hardly keep my eyes open.

Talk to you tomorrow.

Santa's Workshop ~ Diary of Ashlee the Elf - Day 37

These are some pictures I took on Thanksgiving Day

Santa and Mrs Mallory decorating the tree in the den.

Baby Matthew (Our neighbor from down the Street)

The Christmas tree in the toyshop

Hi everyone!

What a great Thanksgiving day we had. I hope you had a wonderful holiday. I ate so much food yesterday that I was not even hungry at breakfast today.

We had a really busy day yesterday. We all got up a 6 a.m. so we could put the turkey's in the ovens. We cooked 10 turkeys. Then we had to peel and cook a ton of vegetables....potatoes, butternut squash, turnip and broccoli.

Around 10 in the morning our guests started to arrive (with more food!). You should of seen our kitchen; we had so much food we had trouble finding places to put it. None of the food was wasted as we had 67 hungry people for dinner.

We all finally sat down to eat lunch around noon. Everything tasted delicious but my favorite food was the mashed potatoes.

After lunch we all went up to Santa's attic to carry down the Christmas decorations. With so many people carrying the boxes it did not take us too long.

Then a lot of us went outside where the sleigh and the reindeer were waiting to take us into the woods to hunt for our Christmas trees. It took us about an hour to find five perfect trees. We needed five trees for Santa's living room, entry hall, toyshop, library and den.

When we got back to Santa's house with the trees, there were a lot more people. Most of our neighbors came over to help us decorate the trees. Mrs. Claus thinks there was more than 150 people at the house. That probably sounds like a lot of people to you but Santa has a mansion with 28 huge rooms so it did not seem very crowded.

We spent the rest of the day decorating trees, singing Christmas Carols, and eating great food. Everyone went home around 10:30pm.

After everyone left the house looked like a cyclone hit. We were all too tired to clean up the mess last night so we had a lot of cleaning  to do this morning. It took us all morning to clean the house.

After lunch I went with Mrs. Claus to the town "Decorating Meeting" to discuss the final plans for tomorrow's party. This is the party where everyone in town gathers to help decorate the entire town. I think I told you about this party several weeks ago - remember we had a bake sale to raise money for the decorations.

We decided the party will begin at noontime tomorrow and hopefully we can turn on all the lights by 6pm. After the lights are turned on we are having a spaghetti supper at the town hall.

We need all the help we can get so if you are anywhere near the North Pole tomorrow please come by.  I can guarantee you will have a lot of fun plus Santa will probably take you for a ride in the sleigh. Don't forget we start at noontime!

Well I better say goodnight as it is almost bedtime. Talk to you tomorrow!

Santa's Workshop ~ Diary of Ashlee the Elf - Day 35

Santa's Sister Rosie

Hi everyone!

Sorry I haven't written to you in a few days. We have been having a lot problems up here at the North Pole. Over the weekend we had a giant blizzard. We got 29 inches of snow. You should see the huge snow drifts we have. Then the next day we had a terrible ice storm.

We haven't had any electricity for almost 3-1/2 days. The electricity finally came back on right before supper. Thank goodness; I do not like the dark. Well, we were not completely in the dark because we had tons of candles lit and the fireplaces had fires but it was still kind of spooky.

We have been busy wrapping presents in the toyshop for the last few days. Luckily there is an underground tunnel that connects Santa's house to the toyshop so we didn't have to go outside in the snow to go to work.

Tomorrow my friends Crystal, Bobbijean and I are going to help Mrs. Claus bake pies for Thanksgiving. We have a lot of pies to bake as we are going to have 67 people for Thanksgiving dinner. Mrs Claus always invites the neighbors over for the Holidays.

Oh, I almost forgot to tell you that Santa's sister Rosie and her husband Donnie are here visiting for the holidays. They are lucky they made it Santa's house safely. They got caught in the blizzard several days ago and had to stop at a hotel because the roads were so slippery. The next day Santa and the reindeer had to go pick them up. The weather was so bad, they did not get home until almost midnight.

Well I better say goodnight as it is getting very late. Everyone else has been in bed for almost an hour now.

Talk to you tomorrow!

Santa's Workshop ~ Diary of Ashlee the Elf - Day 34

Some of the Elves working in the toyshop today.

Hello everyone!

I had a super busy day today. First thing this morning (7:30 A.M.)  I had my skiing lesson. Then I worked on scaning Santa's mail into the computer. I love to work on Santa's mail...everyone sends him such nice letters.

After lunch I went to work in the toyshop. You should see the toyshop, it is packed from floor to ceiling with toys.

Crystal, Bobbijean, Charlie, and I wrapped toys in pretty Christmas paper all afternoon. We had a lot of fun...Mrs. Claus brought us some warm cider and we sang Christmas carols while we worked. It was funny watching Charlie tie the bows on the boxes. No matter how hard he tried, the bows looked silly. So if you receive a Christmas present with a weird looking bow; remember Charlie probably wrapped it.

At around 5:30 Mrs. Claus called us in for supper. After all that work I was starving. We had Macaroni and Cheese with yummy chocolate pudding for dessert.

After supper Darren, the security elf at the toyshop, called Santa to tell him someone had unwrapped some of the toys. We all grabbed our coats and ran to the toyshop. There were about ten unwrapped toys and torn christmas paper all over the floor. At first we did not know who would do such a mean thing, then we saw the dogs, Sparkles and Freddie, hiding in the corner. They both had wrapping paper stuck to their noses. They looked so funny that we all started to laugh.

After we picked up the toyshop we went to Santa's house for popcorn and a game of Scrabble (Mrs. Claus won!).

Well it is getting late so I better say goodnight.

Talk to you tomorrow! Cool

Santa's Workshop ~ Diary of Ashlee the Elf - Day 33

Santa, Blitzen, and Rudolph today at the Bakesale

Hi everyone!

We had a great day. Our bakesale was a real success. We made almost $2,000. Well, we actually only made $1,000 but Santa donated another $1,000. So we now have enough money to buy new decorations to decorate our entire town.

Everyone liked the Gingerbread house that Crystal and I made. We raffled it off to the highest bidder for $55.00.

Mrs. Claus bought all kinds of goodies at the bakesale. My favorite was the Peanut Butter cookies. We all ate so many snacks today that nobody was hungry at suppertime.

The best part of the bakesale was when Santa, Rudolph and Blitzen arrived with the sleigh. Santa let the children (even some grownups!) climb into the sleigh and have their pictures taken with him. You should of seen Rudolph, he is such a show-off,  he loves to have his picture taken.

After the bakesale Mrs. Claus took a group of us girls  shopping for Christmas decorations. We bought a lot of cool things. You should see the sparkling star we bought for the big tree on the common.

We didn't have time to buy all our decorations today so we are going shopping again on Saturday.

Well I better say goodnight. Mrs. Claus is calling us for our hot chocolate. Then we have to go to bed.

Talk to you tomorrow!

Santa's Workshop ~ Diary of Ashlee the Elf - Day 32

Here is a picture of the gingerbread house we made today which will be raffled off at the town bakesale tomorrow.

Hi everyone!

I have good news....we passed the Reindeer inspection. The Reindeer all passed their physicals and behaved themselves perfectly. We were a little worried about Cupid with his weight problem but luckily the inspector didn't seem to notice. Santa now has his license to deliver toys on Christmas eve.

I did not have my skiing lesson today because of the Reindeer inspections this morning. After the inspection was over I had to work in the toyshop to finish painting the dolls faces (they are sooo cute!). After the paint dries, Rosie (the short elf) and I are going wrap the dolls in pretty boxes.

We are having a bakesale tomorrow to raise money for the town Christmas Tree Party. Every year we have a big party to decorate the giant tree in the center of town. Everyone is invited, we sing songs and drink hot chocolate while decorating the tree. Everyone loves it when Santa arrives with the reindeer and takes them for a ride. If you are anywhere near the North Pole on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, you are invited to our party....it's going to be a lot of fun!

After lunch today my friend Crystal and I made a gingerbread house for the bakesale tomorrow. Mrs. Claus said it was the best looking gingerbread house she has ever seen. I just hope it tastes as good as it looks!

After we made the gingerbread house we baked some sugar cookies and brownies. Crystal ate so much cookie dough that she had a tummy ache and had to lay down on the couch. Don't worry, she is okay now.

Well I better say goodnight. It is already past my bedtime.

See you tomorrow!

Santa's Workshop ~ Diary of Ashlee the Elf - Day 32

 Hi everyone!

How are you doing? I am feeling a lot better today. Mrs. Claus finally let me go to my ski lesson this morning. Since I missed my lesson yesterday, my ski teacher let me practice for an extra half an hour. I think I am doing pretty good...I only fell down 3 times today!

After my lesson I had to go to work in the toyshop to finish painting the dolls faces. While I was painting the smoke alarm went off so we all had to run outside in the freezing cold without our coats. We could see smoke coming out of the windows. The firemen came with their trucks and everything. Luckily we did not actually have a fire. I guess Chuckie the elf threw smoke bombs around the toyshop to try to scare us into thinking there was a fire. You should of seen how angry Santa was at Chuckie. I don't think I ever saw Santa so mad!

Because the toyshop still smelled of smoke we could not go back to work. So we had to clean the barn instead to get ready for our Reindeer inspection tomorrow. I wish you could see how great the barn looks. We even hung sparkling colored lights all around the Reindeers' stalls. The Reindeer love the lights!

Santa weighed all the Reindeer this afternoon and they are all normal weight except for Cupid. He is still 18 pounds overweight. Poor Cupid diets and exercises with all the other reindeer but cannot seem to lose the weight.

Well I have to go now and help Mrs. Claus finish baking the Gingerbread cookies for the town bakesale on Wednesday. Hopefully, Mrs. Claus will let me eat a few cookies!

See you tomorrow! Kiss

Santa's Workshop ~ Diary of Ashlee the Elf - Day 31

Here is Santa at the computer checking his toy list. Notice how skinny Santa looks. He is pulling in his stomach because Mrs. Claus was laughing at how chubby he was getting.

Hi everyone!

How are you doing. I am  not feeling too well today. I have been coughing all day long. Mrs. Claus would not even let me go to my skiing lesson this morning. I told her I was well enough to ski but she still would not let me go.

Since I have a cold I was not allowed to work in the toyshop today. I guess Santa was afraid everyone else would catch my cold. So I sat by the fireplace scanning Santa's letters into the computer. I still cannot believe how many letters Santa receives. I hope he has enough toys for everyone.

While I was working on Santa's letters I must of fallen asleep. Because when I woke up Mrs. Claus was ringing the bell for supper. At supper Mrs. Claus told me I was asleep for almost 3 hours. I cannot believe that I slept for so long. Santa says the cough medicine I took at lunchtime probably made me sleepy.

Santa says we are going to be really busy for the next few days because we have to get the reindeer ready for their inspections. The Reindeer inspector is going to visit us on Tuesday.

I bet you did not know that Santa has to get a special license from the Reindeer Board of Health to deliver presents on Christmas eve? A Reindeer inspector has to visit us every year to make sure the reindeer are healthy and that the sleigh is safe.

We almost did not pass inspection last year because Rudolph was playing one of his jokes. Rudolph had all the reindeer put heavy weights on their hoofs. So when the inspector weighed them they were all overweight. At first the inspector would not give Santa his license because the reindeer were too fat. Then the Reindeer started laughing and took the weights off their hoofs. It was so funny that everyone started laughing; even the crabby inspector.

Well I better be saying goodnight. It is almost snacktime. Since I am sick, Mrs. Claus let me choose our snack tonight. So we are having peanut butter on Ritz crackers and chocolate milk (yum!).

See you tomorrow! Innocent

Santa's Workshop ~ Diary of Ashlee the Elf - Day 30

This is the view from my living room window. The snow makes everything so magical!

Hi everyone!

Sorry I did not write to you yesterday. I have been so busy the last couple of days. I have been working in the toyshop painting the dolls faces. After I finish my painting I work on Santa's letters. I am sure glad I have my new scanner to scan Santa's mail into the computer.

I did not have my ski lesson today because we had a big snowstorm this morning. We got about 22 inches of snow. Luckily Santa didn't make us shovel. Since there was so much snow, Jed, the man down the street plowed our driveways for us.

Most of my friends are complaining about the snow but I love it. Bobbijean and I have already been outside with our snowshoes on. It was kind of hard walking in the deep snow, but we had fun. We walked all the way out to the reindeer barn and then over to visit Mrs. Mallory. Mrs. Mallory lives down the street with her two cats FeFe and Boris. She is a great cook! Today she gave us a delicious piece of apple pie and a glass of milk.

After we ate the pie Mrs. Mallory taught Bobbijean and I how to play canasta. We were having so much fun that we didn't even notice how dark it was outside. Santa doesn't want us girls walking alone at night so we had to call home for someone to come and get us. Wynn the barn elf, and Cupid brought us home on the sled. You should of see how pretty our town looks at night with the lights and the snow.

Well I better be saying goodnight. I have to put on my pajamas before Santa calls me for the movie. We are going to pop some popcorn and watch a movie called "Snow Dogs". I'm not sure what the movie is about but I will tell you about it tomorrow.

Bye!

Ashlee the elf Innocent
