The Christmas tree in the toyshop
Hi everyone!
What a great Thanksgiving day we had. I hope you had a wonderful holiday. I ate so much food yesterday that I was not even hungry at breakfast today.
We had a really busy day yesterday. We all got up a 6 a.m. so we could put the turkey's in the ovens. We cooked 10 turkeys. Then we had to peel and cook a ton of vegetables....potatoes, butternut squash, turnip and broccoli.
Around 10 in the morning our guests started to arrive (with more food!). You should of seen our kitchen; we had so much food we had trouble finding places to put it. None of the food was wasted as we had 67 hungry people for dinner.
We all finally sat down to eat lunch around noon. Everything tasted delicious but my favorite food was the mashed potatoes.
After lunch we all went up to Santa's attic to carry down the Christmas decorations. With so many people carrying the boxes it did not take us too long.
Then a lot of us went outside where the sleigh and the reindeer were waiting to take us into the woods to hunt for our Christmas trees. It took us about an hour to find five perfect trees. We needed five trees for Santa's living room, entry hall, toyshop, library and den.
When we got back to Santa's house with the trees, there were a lot more people. Most of our neighbors came over to help us decorate the trees. Mrs. Claus thinks there was more than 150 people at the house. That probably sounds like a lot of people to you but Santa has a mansion with 28 huge rooms so it did not seem very crowded.
We spent the rest of the day decorating trees, singing Christmas Carols, and eating great food. Everyone went home around 10:30pm.
After everyone left the house looked like a cyclone hit. We were all too tired to clean up the mess last night so we had a lot of cleaning to do this morning. It took us all morning to clean the house.
After lunch I went with Mrs. Claus to the town "Decorating Meeting" to discuss the final plans for tomorrow's party. This is the party where everyone in town gathers to help decorate the entire town. I think I told you about this party several weeks ago - remember we had a bake sale to raise money for the decorations.
We decided the party will begin at noontime tomorrow and hopefully we can turn on all the lights by 6pm. After the lights are turned on we are having a spaghetti supper at the town hall.
We need all the help we can get so if you are anywhere near the North Pole tomorrow please come by. I can guarantee you will have a lot of fun plus Santa will probably take you for a ride in the sleigh. Don't forget we start at noontime!
Well I better say goodnight as it is almost bedtime. Talk to you tomorrow!
